This summer I am excited to be working for Accenture, in Houston within their consulting group. I will briefly give overviews of each week while I experience a learning curve like I never have before. The following is key tasks, lessons learned, and some questions that I got answered from my second week on the job in a still very unfamiliar city.
Key Tasks
· Created Leadership Forum Survey on Survey Wizard
· Collaborated with Julianna to create Workstream 101 invite
· Created Leadership Forum Bingo template
· Created Supplies list for Krista to confirm with Tarashonda
· Compiled pictures from Townhalls
· Edited PowerPoint template for Leadership Forum
· Created Leadership Forum Placemat
· Researched inspirational videos to kickoff sessions at Leadership Forum
Lessons Learned
· The leaders of this program always go back to the set goals. I think the thing I hear the most is "what are we trying to accomplish with this?" From Bryce and Vanessa about any deliverable that comes out of the program. I am learning a lot about how important team building and goal setting is at school, but I have been impressed by the value that this team continuously places on the predetermined goals.
· A lot of the conversations I hear focus on whether or not an element of Endur will bring value to BP as a whole. I have heard that this type of conversation also leads to trying to dream up solutions. There seems to be frustration when this happens, because those conversations deviate from the process that has been laid out (and we are only designing right now). From this observation, I can see the value that processes in a consulting career are valuable but are also a challenge for everyone to buy into.
Questions and Answers
· The estimates phase? OR is it just a part of the design phase?
It is a part of the business design phase
· Is this the process that happens on most clients? (business design and the solution implementation type thing with multiple releases?)
More or less the same with different diction. Krista showed me a lot of materials from her training when she went to St. Charles. There is a methodology and it is representative in this project.
· Can I see a BDD? / The deck for scope prioritization?
I have not seen a BDD, but I got to see the change impact slides at the Business change meeting, and that gave me a better understanding of what we are doing on a more technical role.
· Is each Key Impact description align to a requirement or a BDD or looking at Endur as a whole?
They are overall changes to the business that this system will have.
